Today, discovering music increasingly means handing an algorithm the making of our taste.

Eufonia is a site where people can create their own audiocassetta*: a selection of songs, artists and sounds to share with someone else.

Each entry becomes a digital cassette, with its own identity and content. It can be heard, shared and connected to contemporary music platforms.

But the format is not random.

Mixtape, copies, recordings, bootleg. Duplicate and past music.

The cassette was not just a support. He represented the first moment of free music sharing, anarchist, de-integration.

A person chose what to record. Another person received that choice.

There was no system that knew your tastes. There was no pattern that predicted what you would listen to later.

There was a person who had committed to sharing a little self with you. For the first time in history music could be, even tangibly, of all.

Eufonia wants to transform this gesture into a collection of archives.

Each cassette tells a selection. Every selection tells someone.

The goal is not to recreate the past or replace Spotify with a digital version of the cassette. It is to use the meaning of the cassette to build a different way of discovering music.
